KLM Parent/Spectator Conduct Policy
- Parents will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth, not adults, and will exemplify the highest levels of sportsmanship.
- Parents will acknowledge that the coaches of their child’s team is responsible for their behavior and they will respect the coaching staff’s authority.
- Parents will leave instruction (practice and/or games) to the coaching staff and will not to communicate instructions to their child or any other player during practices or games.
- Parents will not yell or argue with officials. Any disagreements with officials will be handled by coaches.
- Parents will not behave negatively at games and will treat opposing players and spectators with respect. They will be mindful in “lopsided” games where excessive cheering of our own winning team might be misunderstood by opposing players or spectators.
- Profanity is unacceptable at KLM games or events.
- Parents should learn the rules of the game and club and league policies. Knowing the rules will help with their player’s development and minimize disagreements.
- Parents shall maintain a professional relationship with their child’s coach and avoid a confrontation immediately following a game. We respectfully ask that parents wait 24 hours before discussing concerns with their coach.
- Parents will make every effort to have their child attend practices and games and will communicate by email (in a timely manner) if their child will be late or absent. Good communication between parents and coaches leads to a more positive experience for all involved
- Parents will remain current on all financial obligations to KLM Soccer Club and will proactively communicate issue to the club that will affect their ability to do so.
- KLM relies upon the support of volunteers; Any anti-social, defamatory, or hurtful behavior against coaches or other unpaid volunteers will result in immediate action.
- In an effort to streamline operations and reduce the workload on staff and volunteer’s parents are required to contact the team coach directly by email for team related matters. We ask parents to refrain from contacting club staff and volunteers for team related matters.
Violations of the Parent/Spectator Conduct Policy:
Any violations of the Parent/Spectator Conduct Policy may be grounds for suspension or dismissal of the parent, child or both from the team/club. Disciplinary action could include, but is not limited to any of the following:
- Verbal warning by official, head coach, league or KLM Discipline Committee.
- Written warning from the KLM Discipline Committee
- Parental OR Player game(s) suspension
- Spectator (non-Parents) ban
- Parental season suspension
- Parental Expulsion from Club
- Player Expulsion from Club
All disciplinary action is the responsibility of the KLM Discipline Committee.
