KLM COVID GUIDELINES FOR TYKES PROGRAM

Field Rules

Arrival:

    • Please arrive early – parking
    • stay in your cars until 5 minutes before the beginning of the session
    • limit contact
    • allow the coaches to finish setting up before the program begins

During:

    • In the past siblings were welcome on the field but we’ve been directed at this time that only program participants can be on the field
    • Parents can be on the perimeter of the playing area but can’t be on the field itself or in between the fields

After:

    • Parents please be there promptly at the end of the session to pick up players
    • Can’t stay beyond their program time
    • We end 5 to the hour so parents be there
    • make sure the transition between programs is seamless and there is minimal contact/grouping

When to not come/ feeling sick

    • As much as I know everybody has been good at keeping kids at home when they are sick it is extra important this year
    • Please stay home if you are exhibiting any corona virus symptoms like fever, cough, difficulty breathing

IF YOU WISH TO PLAY SOCCER, BEFORE YOU PLAY, YOU MUST ADHERE TO:

Do not play if you:

    • Exhibit any corona virus symptoms, such as a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by health experts.
    • Have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
    • Are considered vulnerable or at risk (elderly individuals, immune suppressed persons, individuals suffering from serious health problems, notably high blood pressure, pulmonary diseases, diabetes, obesity and asthma).

PREPARING TO PLAY – PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST INFECTIONS
• Wash your hands with disinfectant soap and water for at least 20 seconds before going to the soccer activity.
• Bring your own water bottle.
• Clean your equipment, including your water bottle.
• Do not share equipment.
• Change into your soccer apparel at home (not at the field location).
• Make sure you have enough water before leaving the house to avoid having to touch a tap or water fountain handle.
• If you cough or sneeze, do so in a tissue or in your sleeve.
• Avoid touching door handles, gates, benches and all other objects where the virus could survive. If you touch something, make sure to wash your hands and disinfect the surface you have touched as quickly as possible.

WHILE PLAYING
• Comply with all safety measures per direction from KLM staff, including the arrival and departure of players (except for family members or persons residing in the same household).
• Listen to your coach and keep to the area of the field the coach has instructed you to be in.
• Avoid unnecessary physical contact with other players.
• Do not shake hands or do fist bumps, with other players.
• Avoid touching the ball and other equipment with your hands.
• Goalkeeper must not share gloves.
• In past years coaches have loved to do hand shakes, high fives and team cheers toward the end of each session but unfortunately this year we will not be shaking hands
• Players should not touch the soccer balls or equipment with their hands
• Players are not permitted to share water and every player should bring their own bottles
• Parents must advise players to sneeze in their elbow, if they have to sneeze
• Spitting on the field is strictly prohibited
• When players are not playing, they will be asked to social distance

AFTER PLAYING
• Wash your hands carefully with water and disinfectant soap or with hand sanitizer.
• Do not use locker rooms or changing areas.
• Leave the field as quickly as possible after you finish playing.

FAILURE TO FOLLOW
• Should any participants and/or individuals fail to follow these recommendations and guidelines, it may result in removal from participation.

COVID-19 Timelines, Recommendations and Guidelines for KLM players, adults and volunteers

WORKING TIMELINE
The following timelines are ONLY able to be implemented if the BC health authorities soften restrictions and we are collectively able to get back to some form of soccer activity. Early indication suggests that there may be a further softening of restrictions in the near-term, therefore, the following is being shared as we collectively work to prepare accordingly.

  • Earliest June 12, 2020 – Return to Modified Training (Phase 1 for soccer)
  • Earliest September 7, 2020 Date, 2020 – Return to Modified Games and/or Competition Structure within identified Soccer Cohorts (Phase 2 for soccer)
  • Date TBA – Return to the NEW Regular Type Training & Games/Competition Structure (Phase 3 for soccer)

Note: Moving to Phase 2 for soccer moves to the “Progressively Loosening” phase in ViaSport’s Sport Activity Chart on page 30 of their Return to Sport Guidelines for B.C. The chart also provides added information on what may be allow over time.

Field Safety Perimeters For Saturday U4-U10 Programs

Safety Protocols and Field Perimeters

  1. On arrival, all players, referees and team officials must report to the Sanitization/Attendance Station.
    • a) There will be a KLM Staff there to sanitize all participants.
  2. We have marked a 6ft perimeter in blue or white jumbo cones around the field.
    • a) Only players, referees and team officials are permitted to enter this perimeter and parents are instructed to watch from the designated sidelines (see map linked below).

We have attached a link to the field map that shows where the Sanitization Station will be located, as well as where the designated sidelines are for each field. Please scroll down to the appropriate field for your age group.
